We’ve been eating a lot of veggie and vegan burgers around here in our quest to ditch meat from our diet, and what do you need for a vegan burger? You guessed it a vegan burger sauce! What’s a burger with its sauce, eh? Let’s do it!
This vegan burger sauce is ready in just a couple of minutes and requires 7 simple ingredients!

This sauce was originally made to go with my vegan chicken burgers but has since been used on just about everything! It’s great in a leftover seitan meat sandwich and incredible on chips. It’s sweet, a little spicey and has a bit of a tang. What I’m saying is, it’s everything you need from a condiment.
The Seven Ingredient Burger Sauce
This is the simplest of vegan sauces, using a quick homemade mayo as the base. The mayo base was inspired by the awesome Simply Vegan Blog.
You will need:
- 250ml sunflower oil
- 125ml soy milk
- 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
- A tablespoon of maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons of English mustard
- A tablespoon of toasted curry powder
- Half a teaspoon of salt
Simply pop all the ingredients into a mixing cup, or bowl, and mix using a stick blender. When blending make sure you start with the stick blender pressed against the bottom of the mixing cup, and bring it up to the top to incorporate the final stobborn oil. finish off the mixing process
Changes + Substituions
I love this burger sauce because it’s very similar to one we used to make when we were serving up 100’s of beef burgers a week in a pub where I worked with my awesome pal, Kim, as the Head Chef. It adds something to the burger, rather than just being there, and wet. Having said that, you can make changes if you wish, I promise not to be offended.
The oil, milk, vinegar and salt are essential at the core of the mayonaisse, but beyond that you can have some fun. Fancy a lime and chipotle mayo? Be my guest. More of a garlic mayo gal? Sure – pop in some roasted garlic cloves. The world is your oyster.
This Dairy-Free Burger Sauce is…
- Dairy-Free, obvz
- Gluten-Free, yep.
- Vegan, you know it!
- Quick, literally ready in about a minute!
- Tasty, damn tasty!
- Tangy, from the mustard!
This delicious vegan burger sauce will keep in the fridge for up to a week – but I doubt it will last that long. Store in either an airtight container or nab yourself some squeezy bottles.
